Fall Camping, Fishing and Hunting

As fall desends upon us I am interested in stories that might relate to camping, fishing and hunting opportunities in the Alamosa area. Where are the local residents favorite places? Are they willing to share? Could you do a man on the street interview in places like the local tackle/camping stores? Sports bars?

The Issues of Children Harassing Others Over the Internet

Sadly, the issue of children sites are full of people disrespecting them. Some cuss, others date, and others even make fun of users on blogs. I was researching this on one website under the name of Chobots. The thing is, it's more than one site, but at the moment I am focusing on one. I found many blogs that were ran by children, or even young teens that would say offending and even disgusting things about other people that went onto this Family Game. I talked to one of the Moderators there about it. They said that they attempted to ban the users they've made (some of which ONE person made over 40 to keep it from them being permanently banned from the site) but they keep on making more. They have the ability to create more accounts from a relative or friend's house, or even a Best Buy. The moderators can ban the accounts, but they can't get rid of the sites. It seems like a small problem, but the knowing of the sites spread throughout the game, and users as young as 6 years old wind up reading it. After reading it, they now see what these other children have written. Which includes disgusting things, cussing, and even accusing people of doing things of which they have not. This is a horrible thing that has happened, and if you cover this story, maybe the kids of these sites will realize how bad these blogs are, and maybe they'll stop. With these sites stopping, it will lower the chance of people playing this game reading horrible posts, and if the posts are about themselves, it will lower the risk of them losing their self esteem. This is something that needs to be put under control, and it's sad that I'd even have to write an article about it in order to do so.

Thank you for your time.

Division Of Water Resourses

I would like to see a story concerning the unethical treatment of our local farmers by the DWR. I am appalled at the dictatership like action they are taking against the farmers here in the Valley. First, they made us meter our wells without a vote of the people. Secondly, they are making rules that we must begin to replace the water we are using for irrigation out of our wells or they will shut the wells off. What I would like to know what gives them this right. Thirdly, they are making up subdistrcts to further divide the SLV and thus make it easier to take over. Plus it appears that now it will cost the farmer thousands of dollars to be able to pump his own water that he must now have augmented. These farmers are among the best in the nation when it comes to conserving water and they have done it for 100 years, but it is not good enough for the DWR. They must have it on a spreadsheet or they cannot understand it. Please look into this matter. Interview as many farmers as you can before talking to the DWR. The DWR appears to be snakes in the grass, just waiting to increase their wallets and status. For all the money in the world will not bring the Valley more water nor does it need more. What the Valley needs if for the DWR to be blackballed and the farmers decide what needs to be done.

Since my business takes me from Alamosa into Costilla, and Conejos Counties, I would like to see more reports from the outlaying areas that make up this great valley. We are currently working on heating alternatives. I would be interested in learning more about heating concerns of the residents--how they are coping...even social services--such as in the remote counties---Costilla particularly--with a higher number of LLeap apps, or requests for assistance. Keeping warm and keeping warm affordably is a concern we all have. --but more valley stories along with your great coverage of Alamosa, as those residents commute to Alamosa making Alamosa what it is today. Thank you for what you do. I am rooting for ya!--I get tired of the NM and CO stations missing the news of the valley.
